Thank you very much for your work as part of a broad-based agreement to adopt the state budget by the April 1 deadline. As an independent bookseller based in [CITY, STATE], I am urging the Assembly to include in the final budget the Internet sales tax provision, which would require non-New York merchants to collect sales tax on purchases shipped into New York State, as was the case in the final Assembly draft version of the budget. This is not a new tax; it would generate needed revenue to support essential local services; and would level the playing field for New York-based merchants.
