Post-Fool's Day Edition

I was tempted to just make this Scalzi Week here at Omnibus, since the inimitable John Scalzi is touching on some great topics during his annual Reader Request Week, but y'all deserve a little better from me.

I've mentioned once or twice in the past that I'm a (huge) fan of Laurie R. King's work. So I'm delighted to point you all to a contest open only to people who buy her new book (dropping 4/29, not that I'm eager or anything) at an independent bookstore.

Abbeville challenges readers to condense the Gettysburg Address.

Daniel thinks April's #1 Indie Next List title belongs to "the category written in invisible ink."

Just remember - it could have been worse.

And sure, April Fool's Day is over, but some of these are too good not to highlight. For instance:

  • Indie bookstores become self-aware, go after non-customers
  • Project Publishing takes to the airwaves.
  • Tor figures alpha geeks aren't enough of a market for e-books.
  • And sometimes, no matter how ridiculous it sounds to the joker, people are going to believe it.
