Registration Opens for Introduction to Bookstore Business Seminar

ABA is inviting prospective booksellers to a free, full-day seminar, “How to Succeed at Retail Bookselling:  Introduction to the Bookstore Business,” on Sunday, June 3, in New York City. The program is open exclusively to ABA provisional members and employees of ABA regular member stores.

BEA to Open to Public on Last Day

BookExpo America has announced plans to open the trade show floor to the public on Thursday, June 7, the last day of this year’s event at New York’s Javits Convention Center.

Donations Sought for Children’s Art Auction

Contributions of all forms of original artwork, from a sketch on paper to finished work in any medium, are wanted for the Annual Children’s Art Auction and Reception at BEA to benefit ABFFE and the Kids’ Right to Read Project.

ABA Day of Education on June 4 at BEA

ABA will hold its 2012 Day of Education on Monday, June 4, during BEA at New York’s Javits Convention Center. The free program, sponsored by the Ingram Content Group, is targeted at ABA bookstore and provisional members but is open to all trade show attendees.

Authors Abound at ABC Children’s Institute

Among the highlights of ABA’ s June 6 ABC Children’s Institute are two events offering booksellers the opportunity to meet and discuss new projects with established and upcoming authors.

BEA’s 2012 Special Event Author Roster

Among the authors scheduled to appear at this year’s BEA breakfasts are Junot Diaz, John Green, and Michael Chabon. Masters of ceremonies include Stephen Colbert, Chris Coffer, and Kirstie Alley. A newly added, free lunchtime event will feature musician and upcoming author Neil Young.

Award Balloting and Celebration Sign-Up Underway

Booksellers at ABA member stores have until midnight on March 31 to cast their ballots for the Indies Choice and the E.B. White Read-Aloud awards. The winners will be honored at ABA’s Celebration of Bookselling Author Awards Luncheon on June 5  at BEA.

Reservations Open for 2012 Celebration of Bookselling Luncheon

ABA’s Celebration of Bookselling Author Awards Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, June 5, at BEA. Reservations will be accepted from two booksellers at each ABA member store on a first-come, first-served basis.
