Book Group Picks Speed-Dating Returns to BEA

ReadingGroupGuides.com will once again be hosting a book group speed-dating session for booksellers, librarians, bloggers, and book group leaders at BEA. The session is designed to give industry professionals and book group leaders a preview of fall and winter titles that will likely become book group favorites.

Registration Deadline Approaches for Illustrator Studio Tours

On Wednesday afternoon, May 29, at BEA, a group of lucky booksellers will tour the studios of children’s book illustrators for a behind-the-scenes peek into the creative lives of some of today’s top talent. The tour is open to ABC Group bookstore members only. There is no fee to participate, but space is limited. Registration for the tours will close on May 10.

Signup for Bookseller/Publisher Focus Groups Ends Next Friday

ABA member booksellers who are interested in meeting with publishers to discuss issues of common interest and mutual concern at Bookseller/Publisher Focus Groups during BEA must sign up by next Friday, May 3.
 

Membership Has Its Advantages at BEA

BookExpo America is right around the corner, and booksellers who want to take advantage of free trade show badges, exclusive parties at Hotel ABA, and special programming for ABC Children’s Group members, as well as be a part of the Celebration of Bookselling and Author Awards Lunch  and the Bookseller/Publisher Focus Groups, must be current on their ABA dues.

Focus Group Signup Deadline May 3

In response to the success of the Bookseller/Publisher Focus Groups at Winter Institute 8, ABA has arranged a series of focus group meetings to be held during BEA. Booksellers who are interested in meeting with publishers to discuss issues of common interest and mutual concern must sign up by May 3.

Illustrators to Pay Tribute to Maurice Sendak at Children’s Book Art Auction

A special section of this year’s Children’s Book Art Silent Auction at BEA will honor the late Maurice Sendak, the beloved author and illustrator of classic children’s titles and a passionate defender of free speech. A number of illustrators will be creating special artworks commemorating Sendak that will be auctioned off at the event.
