ABA to Host Webinars on Kobo eBook Solution Next Week: Sign-up Now

The American Booksellers Association will be hosting two one-hour webinars next week on the ABA/Kobo partnership for booksellers who have been unable to attend the “eBooks and Indie Bookstores” session at the regional trade shows.

ABA’s President on Some Important Initiatives

In her bimonthly letter, ABA President Becky Anderson encourages booksellers to take a look at some new programs and intiatives available to all member stores; however, she notes, deadlines are approaching soon.

Judge Issues Preliminary Approval of States’ $69 Million E-Book Settlement

This week, U.S. District Judge Denise Cote issued an order preliminarily approving the e-book pricing settlements between 49 states and Hachette, HarperCollins, and Simon & Schuster.

In addition to learning how to maximize their websites, booksellers at last week’s IndieCommerce Institute heard from representatives of Kobo and Ingram about ABA’s new e-book solution, open to all member stores.

Kobo Launch Incentive Deadline October 20

For ABA member stores to take advantage of the Kobo Launch Incentive — which includes free displays, free demo units, sell-through bonuses, product returnability, extended dating, and a cash bonus for participating — they must sign-up by Saturday, October 20.

Publishers Work on E-Book Agreements Under DOJ Settlement

With last week’s federal court order entering as final judgment the Department of Justice’s e-book pricing settlement with Hachette, HarperCollins, and Simon & Schuster, the three publishers are working on agreements to replace the agency model for e-books.
