ABA will open registration next Thursday for the full-day seminar “How to Succeed at Retail Bookselling: Introduction to the Bookstore Business,” to be held in Kansas City, Missouri, on Friday, February 22, the day before Winter Institute 8 begins.

Booksellers who were unable to attend a session on the ABA/Kobo eReading Solution at the regional shows and those who missed last week’s live webinars can now access a recording of the October 12 webinar and question-and-answer session via BookWeb.org.

ABA board members and staff will be at this Saturday’s SCIBA Authors Feast & Trade Show to provide updates on new programs and initiatives, including the Kobo eBook solution and the Thanks for Shopping Indie multi-publisher promotion.

More than 75 booksellers took part in ABA’s inaugural Events Specialty Institute last Wednesday, October 3, in Minneapolis, prior to the Great Lakes and Midwest independent booksellers associations’ Heartland Fall Forum.

The American Booksellers Association will be hosting two one-hour webinars next week on the ABA/Kobo partnership for booksellers who have been unable to attend the “eBooks and Indie Bookstores” session at the regional trade shows.

Registration for ABA’s Eighth Annual Winter Institute is now open. Wi8 kicks off in Kansas City, Missouri, with a reception on Friday evening, February 22,  and continues through Monday, February 25, with more than 25 education sessions for booksellers at all levels of experience.

Registration for ABA’s first-ever Events Specialty Institute will close at midnight on Sunday, September 30. The institute, which is open to booksellers at all ABA member stores, will be held on Wednesday, October 3, at The Depot in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

At next week’s  Heartland Fall Forum and New England Independent Booksellers Association Fall Conference, ABA staff will present the education sessions “E-Books and Independent Bookstores” and “Meeting the Literacy Needs of Your Community.”

Booksellers will be able to learn more about Kobo, ABA’s new e-book solution, available to all member stores, at an ABA education session next Saturday at the NAIBA trade show and at the ABA booth on the show floor.

Booksellers at ABA member stores will be able to register for the eighth annual Winter Institute (Wi8) beginning next Thursday, September 27. Wi8 will be held in Kansas City, Missouri, from Saturday, February 23, to Monday, February 25, 2013, with an opening reception on Friday, February 22, 2013.
