Here’s a preview of the Summer ’13 Indie Next List for Reading Groups, which ABA member stores in the IndieBound movement will be receiving in the May Red Box. The list features an intriguing selection of Top 10 titles and indie favorites in six discussion-starting categories.

Anthony Marra, author of A Constellation of Vital Phenomena (Hogarth), talks about his inspirations, research process, and what lies at the heart of his debut novel, which Anderson McKean of Alabama’s Page & Palettte said “expertly balances the pain and suffering inflicted during the Chechen conflict with exquisite moments of loyalty, sacrifice, humility, and enduring love.”

Here’s a preview of the titles on the June Indie Next List flier, on its way to ABA member stores in the IndieBound movement. A downloadable PDF version of the list will also be available beginning June 1 on BookWeb.org and IndieBound.org.

With last week’s launch of the redesigned ABA trade website, BookWeb.org, the URL for Bestseller Reporting has changed, and members’ browsers will no longer pre-populate the log-in form with their usernames and passwords.

The May Indie Next List’s 12 “Now in Paperback” titles are featured with bookseller quotes on a downloadable flier and shelf-talkers.

Today, the American Booksellers Association announces the winners of the 2013 Indies Choice Book Awards and the E.B. White Read-Aloud Awards, as voted by independent booksellers nationwide.

The 2013 Pultizer Prize for Fiction was awarded on Monday to The Orphan Master’s Son by Adam Johnson (Random House). Johnson is an avid supporter of independent bookstores, and is part of the Why Indies Matter video campaign.
