    This week, IndieBound.org launched several exciting new features for consumers and booksellers that focus on indie bookstores and spreading the word about great books.

    Correction

    The July Indie Next List flier, on its way to stores in the IndieBound movement, misidentifies the name of the bookstore for the bookseller's quote for the title It's Not Me, It's You: Subjective Recollections From a Terminally Optimistic, Chronically Sarcastic, and Occasionally Inebriated Woman. The title was nominated by Sam Droke-Dickinson of Aaron's Books in Lititz, Pennsylvania.

    Bestseller List Deadline Unchanged for Memorial Day Holiday

    The deadlines for reporting sales to the Indie Bestseller List next week remain unchanged; the deadlines will not be extended for the Memorial Day holiday.

    The Indie Bestseller List will be compiled and sent to booksellers, as usual, on Tuesday, May 26, and the printable PDF will be posted on ABA's trade website, BookWeb.org, on Wednesday afternoon. The American Booksellers Association is urging all bookstores to report during the holiday weekend to ensure that the Bestseller List reflects the true range and influence of indies nationwide.

    The Summer 2009 Children's Indie Next List Preview

    A new season of insightful indie booksellers' recommendations for the next great reads in children's and young adult titles -- featured in a four-page list with a bold, bright, and fun design -- will be arriving soon in bookstores in the Summer 2009 Kids' Next List.

    Fifty of independent booksellers' favorite authors will be at this year's ABA Celebration of Bookselling Luncheon at BookExpo America. The Friday, May 29, event, open exclusively to the owners and staff at ABA member stores, will feature the presentation of the inaugural Indies Choice Book Awards (ICBA).
