On Tuesday, April 23, 25,000 World Book Night givers fanned out across the country to deliver books into the hands of light and non-readers. Givers visited locations ranging from nursing homes, shelters, public parks, subway platforms, and firehouses to a hot dog stand, the Lincoln Memorial, Dress for Success offices, an Okinawa military base, and a steel mill.

Indie booksellers are gearing up for the April 23rd celebration of World Book Night with parties and book pickup events planned at hundreds of locations across the country.

World Book Night has released a list of the towns, cities, and regions that are home to the most volunteer givers per capita.

Publishers, authors, and others with a stake in how the new Common Core State Standards will shape our country’s educational system gathered on the morning of Wednesday, April 10, at the Random House offices in New York City for an open-ended panel discussion on the opportunities and challenges for the trade book market.

New authors and events have been added to the World Book Night kickoff schedule, including poetry readings and the handout of WBN titles to audience members at Broadway shows.
