Winter Institute

Registration for a trip to Ski Santa Fe resort is now open to all Winter Institute attendees, including ABA member booksellers and their families as well as publishers.

Registered booksellers who are no longer able to attend are asked to notify ABA as soon as possible so waiting booksellers can be offered a chance to register. A full refund will be offered through this Friday, November 16.

A number of additional scholarships to the 2019 Winter Institute have been awarded to ABA member booksellers.

The new “Libros Para el Viaje/Books for the Journey” campaign will be collecting gently used books for individuals and families who have arrived at the U.S.-Mexico border with nothing.

ABA is inviting booksellers to sign up now to join their colleagues for a ski trip on Saturday, January 26, immediately following Winter Institute 14 in Albuquerque.

A full refund will be offered through November 16. Booksellers on the waitlist will be notified on a first-come, first-served basis if cancellations are received. 

Changing Hands co-owner Cindy Dach wanted to help the stores’ booksellers learn skills that could be used in both the industry and beyond, so she launched a series of educational sessions on a range of topics.

Registrants who are no longer planning to attend the 2019 Winter Institute are asked notify the American Booksellers Association as soon as possible so waitlisted booksellers can be offered a chance to attend.

Winter Institute attendees who have experience across a range of topics, from managing multi-location bookstores to thriving as a new bookstore owner, are asked to volunteer.

The survey, which will be sent to all registered attendees, will help ABA gauge interest in education sessions being planned for the upcoming event. Booksellers should respond by Wednesday, October 24.

The American Booksellers Association is seeking booksellers who have mastered the art of building engaging in-store and window displays.

Booksellers can fill out the registration form on BookWeb to add their names to the waitlist; booksellers will be notified on a first-come, first-served basis if spots become available for the event.

Winter Institute 14 will feature Margaret Atwood and Erin Morgenstern, Hanif Abdurraqib, Reshma Saujani, and Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, plus education sessions, networking events, author receptions, and more.
