Winter Institute keynote speaker Martin Lindstrom, author of the forthcoming book Small Data: The Tiny Clues That Uncover Huge Trends, writes that Amazon has opened a bricks-and-mortar bookstore to explore the potential of all of our five senses. The good news? Indie booksellers can leverage this potential, too. And to great effect.

Here’s the latest on registration for Winter Institute 11’s bookstore tours, Advanced Learning Education sessions, the Après Institute Ski Trip, and more.

For the second year in a row, publishers Catapult and Grove Atlantic, together with the website Literary Hub, are offering booksellers registered for the Winter Institute the chance to stay at the “Lit Lodge.”

Starting today, November 12, Winter Institute 11 registrants can sign up for Advanced Learning Education sessions for store owners and managers and for Denver-area bookstore tours, which are open to all bookseller attendees and international guests.

Booksellers and publishers attending Winter Institute 2016 have until this Friday, November 13, to register themselves, as well as their families and friends, for the Après Institute Ski Trip to the Rockies’ Copper Mountain resort.

Booksellers and publishers planning to take part in the first-ever Backlist Book Swap at Winter Institute 11 are asked to RSVP by November 20 via a short form on BookWeb.

Nicole Magistro of The Bookworm of Edwards provides the scoop on the Winter Institute’s Après Institute Ski Trip, including skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing opportunities at Copper Mountain; nearby restaurants; and activities for non-skiers.

Publishers participating in Winter Institute 11 are now invited to sign up for the Après Institute Ski Trip to Colorado’s Copper Mountain on Wednesday, January 27, 2016.

ABA’s new Revisit & Rediscover program aims to highlight favorite backlist titles through a regular feature in the monthly Indie Next List and quarterly Kids’ Indie Next List fliers.

A full-day workshop offering a crash course on the essentials of opening a bookstore or buying an existing store will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016, just prior to the evening opening of Winter Institute 2016, at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel in Denver, Colorado.
