ABA reminds registered booksellers who are no longer planning to attend Winter Institute 8 and all registrants who no longer need their hotel reservations at the Westin Kansas City at Crown Center to notify ABA as soon as possible, so people on the waiting lists can fill their places.

Registration for the full-day seminar “How to Succeed at Retail Bookselling: Introduction to the Bookstore Business,” to be held just prior to Winter Institute 8, is open to ABA Provisional members and employees of Regular member stores.

ABA Provisional members and employees of Regular member stores can now register for “How to Succeed at Retail Bookselling: Introduction to the Bookstore Business,” a full-day seminar to be held in Kansas City, Missouri, on Friday, February 22, 2013, the day before the eighth annual Winter Institute (Wi8) begins.

To help accommodate those on the waiting lists for Winter Institute 8,  ABA is asking registered booksellers who are no longer planning to attend, and all registrants who no longer need their hotel reservations, to contact the association as soon as possible.

This week, two new Small Press sponsors of Winter Institute 8 were announced, as well as the recipient of the Disney Publishing Worldwide publisher-sponsored scholarship and the winner of the Rainy Day Books A Good American challenge.

ABA will open registration next Thursday for the full-day seminar “How to Succeed at Retail Bookselling: Introduction to the Bookstore Business,” to be held in Kansas City, Missouri, on Friday, February 22, the day before Winter Institute 8 begins.

A record-breaking 50 booksellers will be attending the American Booksellers Association’s Eighth Annual Winter Institute (Wi8) on scholarship.

A new feature of the Winter Institute website this year is a special page featuring biographical information for the many authors scheduled to take part in the three days of educational programming and in the ever-popular author receptions.

This week, Black Dog & Leventhal announced the winners of its “Why My Bookstore Matters” Winter Institute scholarship contest, launched in September in celebration of this month’s publication of “My Bookstore: Writers Celebrate Their Favorite Places to Browse, Read, and Shop.”

Bookseller registration for ABA’s Eighth Annual Winter Institute reached capacity last week, and an event waiting list began forming. Now, reservations at the host hotel, Missouri’s Westin Kansas City at Crown Center, are also sold out.
