ABA reminds registered booksellers who are no longer planning to attend Winter Institute 8 and all registrants who no longer need their hotel reservations at the Westin Kansas City at Crown Center to notify ABA as soon as possible, so people on the waiting lists can fill their places.

ABA Provisional members and employees of Regular member stores can now register for “How to Succeed at Retail Bookselling: Introduction to the Bookstore Business,” a full-day seminar to be held in Kansas City, Missouri, on Friday, February 22, 2013, the day before the eighth annual Winter Institute (Wi8) begins.

To help accommodate those on the waiting lists for Winter Institute 8,  ABA is asking registered booksellers who are no longer planning to attend, and all registrants who no longer need their hotel reservations, to contact the association as soon as possible.

New Wi8 Sponsors and Scholarship Winners Named

This week, two new Small Press sponsors of Winter Institute 8 were announced, as well as the recipient of the Disney Publishing Worldwide publisher-sponsored scholarship and the winner of the Rainy Day Books A Good American challenge.

This week, Black Dog & Leventhal announced the winners of its “Why My Bookstore Matters” Winter Institute scholarship contest, launched in September in celebration of this month’s publication of “My Bookstore: Writers Celebrate Their Favorite Places to Browse, Read, and Shop.

Winter Institute Host Hotel Sold Out

Bookseller registration for ABA’s Eighth Annual Winter Institute reached capacity last week, and an event waiting list began forming. Now, reservations at the host hotel, Missouri’s Westin Kansas City at Crown Center, are also sold out.
