This week, ABA announced the winner of the Avin Mark Domnitz Scholarship, awarded to a bookseller at a store that submitted financial data to this year’s ABACUS Survey.

Winter Institute 7 registration and the host hotel, the Astor Crowne Plaza, are both now fully booked, and ABA is no longer accepting names for the registration waiting list.

Candlewick Press has named Marika McCoola of The Odyssey Bookshop in South Hadley, Massachusetts, as the winner of its CHIRP scholarship to Winter Institute 7.

With the recent addition of two publishers at the Shared sponsorship level and the switch of another from Shared to Full, the 2012 Winter Institute sponsor list is now complete.

Wi7 registrants have until tomorrow, Friday, October 28, to book a room at the Astor Crowne Plaza at the special event rate unless the ABA room block sells out even sooner.

For the second year, Workman Publishing is sponsoring the Joe Drabyak Frontline Fellowship to the Winter Institute. Booksellers, publishers, and sales reps are encouraged to nominate booksellers for the fellowship by November 11.

As there are dozens of booksellers on the waiting list for Winter Institute 7, ABA is urging registered booksellers whose plans have changed to contact association staff as soon as possible.

The 2012 Winter Institute in New Orleans is made possible by the overall support of the Ingram Content Group, Wi7’s lead sponsor, and the support of more than 30 large and small publishers.

Last Friday, just eight days after the opening of registration for the Seventh Annual Winter Institute, the event was booked to capacity, and ABA began accepting names for a waiting list.
