Selecting a Theme

IndieCommerce sites contain over 50 different themes of varying styles and flexibility.  Some have many block regions, with color options and layout configurations, while others rely more on content to customize, rather than settings in the theme itself.

Understanding Blocks

What are blocks, and where do they go?

Contents that can display in different regions of your theme on all, or only specified, pages.  Blocks can be composed of of text, images, links, and other standard HTML. They can also be used to embed codes for widgets from outside sources like YouTube, or Facebook.

Some blocks are automatically created by the system, while others are added manually.

Items that can be found as blocks are listed below:

Mobile Theme Configuration

Minimum Requirements
The IndieCommerce mobile theme is designed for smartphones with full web browsers, capable of running JavaScript.  Examples would include iPhone (all versions), Android phones (all kinds), Palm Pre, and many newer Blackberry and Windows Mobile phones.

Service Links

What's with all the little social networking icons at the bottom of every page?

These are called 'Service Links,' and they link your page to a variety of social networking sites.

Toggling Theme Display Options

My site name is in the way of my logo. Is there a way to remove it?

Yes, while certain themes have varying configuration options (colors, drop-down menus, fonts etc.), they will all contain the 'Toggle display' options.

Go to Site Building > Themes > Configure > [Theme you are using]

The toggle display options will look like this:

Working With Menus

There are two different ways to link pages and menus to one another.  One is selected through the page itself, while the other is added through the menu settings.

Option 1

The first, and easier, way is to go to the page, and select the menu.

1.  At the top of the Edit page, click on the 'Menu Settings' link directly beneath the 'Title' field.

2.  In 'Menu Link Title,' type the text that you want your page to display on the menu.
