The American Booksellers Association has announced plans for its first annual Winter Education Institute, to be held on Thursday, January 26, and Friday, January 27, 2006, in Long Beach, California.

Open to all ABA member booksellers -- owners and staff -- and free of charge, the Institute will feature ABA education programming from this past June's BookExpo America, as well as new sessions developed in response to bookseller input to be gathered in the association's 2006 Education Survey. The intensive two-day program is designed to serve new and seasoned booksellers alike.

In addition to being a great professional development opportunity for those who were unable to attend BEA in New York City, the Winter Education Institute will also feature a Welcome Lunch Reception, an Evening Reception, a "What Are You Reading?" Breakfast, and an Independent Retailing Luncheon.

Designed to suit booksellers' schedules and budgets, the program has been planned in a way that will only require a one-night hotel stay for booksellers who are traveling to Long Beach. Watch for details, including the complete education program, registration details, and special hotel rate information, in upcoming editions of Bookselling This Week.
