Booksellers looking to catch up on a range of public policy issues affecting their businesses are encouraged to set up an appointment to meet with David Grogan, senior public policy analyst for the American Booksellers Association, in the ABA Indie Bookseller Lounge at BookExpo America (Meeting Room 214 at the front of the “200” aisle on the trade show floor).

“This will be a great chance to sit down and discuss any questions you may have about sales tax fairness, health care, or other public policy issues affecting your business,” said Grogan.

It’s been more than a year since the U.S. Senate passed sales tax fairness legislation, and it is expected that the U.S. House of Representatives will introduce sales tax fairness legislation in the coming weeks. In addition, many states are considering their own e-fairness solutions. ABA expects this issue to heat up even more over the summer, and, as with any of the association’s advocacy efforts, the success of the sales tax fairness campaign depends on bookseller participation.

Grogan is available to meet on the following days:

•    Wednesday, May 28, between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.;
•    Thursday, May 29, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.;
•    Friday, May 30, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.; or
•    Saturday, May 31, between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

To schedule an appointment, booksellers should e-mail Grogan no later than noon on Friday, May 23, and indicate their preferences for meeting day and time.
