In response to last week’s tragedy in Orlando, to help bookstores around the country address the needs of customers looking for books on LGBTQ issues, acceptance, and grief, the American Booksellers Association has compiled a list of relevant titles suggested by member booksellers.

The initial list, which was sent to stores via e-mail on Friday, June 17, has grown to almost 300 titles and is available to everyone as an Excel file on a BookWeb.org. All ABA members can continue to suggest books for the list by sending an e-mail to [email protected] with the title, author name (first and last), ISBN, publisher, and category (LGBTQ, acceptance, or grief). Notes can also be added beside each entry.

A flier featuring children’s backlist titles on LGBTQ themes, available at the Children’s Institute Welcome Reception and Backlist Book Swap Party on Tuesday night, is also ready for download as a PDF on the BookWeb resource page.

Booksellers, publishers, and authors heading to the Children’s Institute were also encouraged to bring one title from either list to be donated to an Orlando-area school or library. Attendees can drop of their donations at the Ci4 Welcome Desk.
