Posman to Open Fourth Store

Posman Books, which has locations in Grand Central Terminal, Chelsea Market, and Rockefeller Center, plans to open a fourth location in a retail complex in Manhattan’s soon-to-be-renovated Brookfield Place. The opening is part of a plan to add five stores in five years, Posman vice president Robert Fader told the Wall Street Journal.

Formerly known as the World Financial Center, Brookfield Place is a high-traffic area, and the 2,200-square-foot bookstore will likely draw locals, tourists, and the office population, said Fader.

Half Price Books B(eco)mes Bagless

Half Price Books, which has 120 stores in 16 states, has launched an eco-centric effort, encouraging customers to “b(eco)me bagless.” When a customer declines a plastic bag, the store will donate five cents to a local environmental nonprofit organization.

“Being kind to the environment is an important part of our mission at Half Price Books,” President Sharon Anderson Wright announced on the store’s website. “We have always believed that ‘Books should fill our lives, not our land.’”
