Binc to Hold Cell Phone Recycling Drives at Regional Shows

The Book Industry Charitable Foundation (Binc) will be holding used cell phone recycling drives at each of this fall’s regional trade shows. Funds raised through the drives will be used to help booksellers meet emergency expenses, including medical bills, housing costs, utilities, and more.

Every person recycling a phone at Binc’s table during the regional shows will be entered into a drawing for a $50 American Express gift card. Each phone donated earns one entry into the raffle, and one raffle will be conducted at each show.

Tablets and e-readers will also be accepted for recycling. Devices do not need to be in working order, as the internal parts still have value.

A third-party vendor is assisting Binc with the cell phone recycling program. All personal data will be removed from the donated phones and, depending on age and condition, the phones may be refurbished for sale, programmed for 911 calls only, or properly recycled.

Bookstores are also welcome to hold cell phone recycling drives at their stores as part of an ongoing, year-round fundraiser. Learn more about hosting a cell phone recycling drive here.
