On Friday, May 30, ReedPOP will host the kickoff for BookCon, its interactive consumer book event taking place the following day in conjunction with BookExpo America at New York’s Javits Convention Center. The special event will include a sneak peek of the upcoming film adaptation of Jonathan Tropper’s bestselling book This Is Where I Leave You and an hour-long panel discussion featuring actors Jason Bateman and Tina Fey, director Shawn Levy, and Tropper, who wrote the screenplay. It will be followed by a Happy Hour to celebrate the debut of BookCon.

The limited-access BookCon kickoff event will be held in the Javits Center’s Special Events Hall. The panel discussion, moderated by Entertainment Weekly’s Anthony Breznican, will start at 4:00 p.m. and will be followed by a two-hour Happy Hour that will give consumers an opportunity to mingle with high-profile authors.  A limited number of tickets for the BookCon kickoff event will be available for an additional $10 to all those who purchase BookCon or BEA tickets. ReedPOP will also offer tickets as part of a VIP package that will include special artwork, a signed copy of This Is Where I Leave You, first access to seating, access to BookCon on Saturday, and other benefits.

“This is exactly the type of event that embodies what BookCon is all about and sets the tone in a truly impactful way,” said ReedPOP Global Senior Vice President Lance Fensterman.  “This is our way of celebrating the debut of BookCon and giving fans a unique experience that will carry into the following day.”

ReedPOP announced the launch of BookCon on March 26. The event’s headliners include Amy Poehler, Martin Short, John Grisham, R.L. Stine, Stan Lee, Cary Elwes, Cassandra Clare, and Maggie Stiefvater.

Details about BookCon exhibitors, talent, and sponsors are scheduled to be announced by ReedPOP in the coming weeks.  More information is available on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
