Children's Book Week 2018 posterIn honor of Children’s Book Week, April 30–May 6, the Children’s Book Council and Every Child a Reader are inviting independent bookstores, libraries, and schools to participate in this year’s One World, Many Stories display contest.

The winners will each receive a set of the 20 books that made it to the finals of the Children’s & Teen Choice Book Awards to donate to a local charity or, for schools, to give to their students in need.

To enter the contest, stores must:

  • Post photos on social media; tag Every Child a Reader on FacebookTwitter, or Instagram; and use the hashtag #CBW18.
  • Fill out the display contest entry form, including all store information and links to the online postings.
  • Share one to three display photos via Dropbox for inclusion in an online album, as well as a document with photo credits and captions.

Displays must be up for a week between April 23 and May 6. Winners will be chosen based on the prominent use of this year’s Children’s Book Week poster, additional art reflecting this year’s theme, and inclusion of Children’s and Teen Choice Book Award finalists. Entries must be submitted by May 14.

Voting opened last month for the 11th annual Children’s & Teen Choice Book Awards, sponsored by Every Child a Reader. Voting is taking place at EveryChildaReader.net/vote and in schools, bookstores, and libraries around the country through May 6.

The winners will be chosen from five finalists in each of the three Children’s Choice Book Awards categories — K–2nd grades, 3rd–4th grades, and 5th–6th grades — and the Teen Book of the Year category. The winning authors and illustrators will be announced on May 30 at a special ceremony at BookExpo 2018.

To help booksellers promote voting, Every Child a Reader and the Children’s Book Council offer an array of resources, including website banners, logos, sample social media posts, printable ballots, “I voted” stickers, e-mail signatures, and more, as well as a variety of voting tools.
