The 87th annual Children's Book Week, sponsored by the Children's Book Council (CBC), will be celebrated from November 13 - 19. CBC, the nonprofit trade association of publishers and packagers of books and materials for children and young adults, sponsors the annual event to celebrate the written word and to introduce young people to new authors and ideas in schools, bookstores, libraries, and homes.

This year's theme, "More Books, Please," is depicted in the 2006 Children's Book Week poster, illustrated by renowned author and playwright Jules Feiffer. CBC hopes the poster and related materials will encourage young people, and those who care for them, to explore the vast number of enjoyable books, for every age group and interest.

CBC has developed a wide range of materials and ideas to assist booksellers, librarians, and others, in observing Children's Book Week. Materials, including animated e-mails, wall decorations, and bookmarks, and a variety of promotional ideas, can be found on the CBC website, www.cbcbooks.org/cbw/.
