Connect With Small and University Presses on Winter Institute’s Final Day

On the final day of Winter Institute 2018 in Memphis, booksellers will have several opportunities to connect with Winter Institute’s small and university press sponsors.

Wi13 logoFirst up is the Small and University Presses Breakfast, which has taken the form of a luncheon at prior Winter Institutes. The event will be held on Thursday, January 25, from 7:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. in Ballroom A&B at the Memphis Cook Convention Center, and will feature representatives from 15 small and university presses discussing upcoming titles. The breakfast’s 15 presenting sponsors are:

Immediately following their breakfast presentations, the reps from participating small and university press sponsors will be available for further discussion with booksellers during the Small and University Presses Office Hours, to be held from 9:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in the Convention Center’s Ballroom B.

From 9:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., booksellers will also have the opportunity to Meet the Presses in the Ballroom Foyer near Room 201, where they can visit with a selection of small and mid-size publisher sponsors for informal conversations. These publishers, many of which are first-time ABA event sponsors, will have sample copies of their books as well as additional copies for giveaway. A second session of Meet the Presses will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the same location. See the list of Meet the Presses participants here.

Finally, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Grand Lobby of the Sheraton Memphis Downton Hotel, booksellers are invited to attend a Small Press Lunchtime Author Reception. There, attendees will enjoy traditional Memphis barbecue fare and meet authors from both Winter Institute’s small and university press sponsors as well as from participating Meet the Presses publishers.
