Live Training at Winter Institute

Four members of the IndieCommerce team will be at Winter Institute 2016 in Denver for one-on-one consultations with booksellers. A sign-up form will go live during the first week of December; reminders about the form will be sent via e-mail, but interested booksellers should make a note to look for the form on BookWeb.org.

Appointments will be scheduled for the afternoon of Sunday, January 24, and the mornings and afternoons of Monday, January 25, and Tuesday, January 26, 2016. (Please note: There won’t be a general IndieCommerce Users Group at Wi11.)

Booksellers considering offering their customers an e-commerce site are invited to the Winter Institute session “Introduction to IndieCommerce” on Tuesday, January 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

"Almost Live” Training at Your Desk

The results of last week’s IndieCommerce survey are in, and, not surprisingly, respondents do not want to commit to webinar dates in December. However, many stores offered good topic suggestions, which the IndieCommerce team will address in 2016.

Since questions about store sites don’t stop in December, instead of formal webinars, the IndieCommerce team will host  a series of open Q&A hours on GoToWebinar. No registration is required. The Q&As will take place on Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m. EST and on Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m. EST, from December 1 through December 16.

A link and webinar code will be posted the day before each Q&A session on the BookWeb.org sign up page.

For recordings of past webinars, visit the IndieCommerce Webinar Center on BookWeb.org.

Have Your Customers Been Using Advanced Search?

On November 3, Advanced Search was automatically enabled for all store sites. To create a link to it from a menu on the store homepage, link to “/search/advanced_search.”

Stores that want Advanced Search disabled on their sites should contact the IndieCommerce team.

With Advanced Search, customers are able to locate books by a wide range of attributes, including publisher, price, age range, publication date, availability, and more. In total, about 25 different attributes are searchable.

Questions and suggestions can always be addressed to the IndieCommerce team at [email protected].
