Readers awaiting the April 28 celebration of Independent Bookstore Day (IBD) can now use an interactive Independent Bookstore Day map to see the 500-plus bookstores that will be selling the event’s special literary-themed merchandise.

Earlier this year, booksellers had the opportunity to order exclusive books and literary art pieces specially designed for Independent Bookstore Day, and hundreds chose their favorites to share with their communities.

The 14 limited-edition items include a utility pouch featuring a quote from Colson Whitehead and design elements from his National Book Award winning title The Underground Railroad; a Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat print signed by author Samin Nosrat and illustrator Wendy MacNaughton; literary tea towels featuring quotes from Julia Child and Anthony Bourdain; a Dragons Love BOOKS! onesie, based on Adam Rubin’s bestselling Dragons Love Tacos books, illustrated by Daniel Salmieri; and more. Giveaways inlclude a specially stickered, free edition of a classic in the Feminism: A Very Short Introduction series from Oxford University Press, a free Llama Llama coloring book activity kit, and more.

Bookstores that did not order IBD merchandise are still invited to participate on Saturday, April 28, by planning in-store celebrations, using the Independent Bookstore Day logo, and ordering Independent Bookstore Day T-shirts and tote bags.

Visit the Independent Bookstore Day website to learn more about the event; the “For the Trade” section includes a handy month-by-month planning guide, bookseller information and FAQs, and more. Booksellers can follow Independent Bookstore Day on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
