To help booksellers promote Kobo’s “eRead Local” program, the American Booksellers Association is offering a choice of teal, white, or purple web banners in BookWeb’s DIY Designs & Downloads. The images can be used on store websites to alert visitors about a special $5 credit available to new customers who create a Kobo account through an ABA member affiliate. The 100-day initiative to encourage customers to give eReading a try launched on August 24 and runs through November 29.

Each new customer who creates a Kobo account through an affiliate ABA member store’s website during the promotion will receive a $5 credit for use toward their first purchase of one of four million eBooks available from the Kobo catalog. Additionally, ABA member stores will receive $5 for each new Kobo customer they acquire.

Once a customer has signed up through an affiliate ABA member, the store will benefit from every subsequent Kobo eBook purchase. ABA members that acquire 100 new customers or more will be entered for a chance to win an in-store event with a bestselling author, while those that acquire at least 50 new customers become eligible to win Kobo eReaders for in-store customer contests.

ABA member stores interested in joining the eRead Local program should contact Natalie Jefferson, partner manager, North America, Rakuten Kobo, at [email protected]
