A new social media forum has been launched on BookWeb.org at the request of ABA member booksellers. This resource is a place where members can get together and share their best practices, interesting tips, new platforms, and other ideas they might want to pass on.

The new forum is currently active and ready to connect booksellers throughout the country. There is already a new post on the forum, which details how a store successfully used social media to promote ticket sales for an author appearance by encouraging people to repost, share, retweet, or pin an event poster image in order to be entered into a contest to win a pair of tickets.

The American Booksellers Association offers a variety of different forums to encourage members to gather information and network with other indie booksellers. The forums, which are open exclusively to ABA member booksellers, include general Bookseller-to-Bookseller and Ask ABA forums, as well as topic-specific discussion groups ranging from Education and IndieCommerce to Inventory Control Systems and Kobo eBooks and eReaders.

To receive e-mail updates about new posts, booksellers can click the “subscribe” link under the “Subscribe to Forum” heading on any thread page. Users may subscribe to an individual thread, to all the available forums, or to a specific forum.

A BookWeb username and password are required to access the forums. (You can create a log-in here.)
