Preregistration Opens for Find Waldo Local 2014

On Wednesday, January 22, preregistration opened for the third annual Find Waldo Local campaign, co-sponsored by the American Booksellers Association and Candlewick Press. ABA member stores can sign up online at indiebound.org/findwaldolocal until March 15; participation is capped at 250 stores.

The campaign, which runs the entire month of July, unites small businesses in communities nationwide in scavenger hunts for the ever-elusive, red-and-white striped picture book character.

This year’s Find Waldo Local campaign incldues the search for a new character — Woof, Waldo’s most loyal companion. Waldo spotters will be eligible for new prizes throughout the month and the celebration will culminate in a grand closing ceremony at participating bookstores.

Candlewick will again be providing participating bookstores with a kit containing all they need to launch their Find Waldo Local celebrations, including mini Waldo standees and one Woof standee, window clings, prize buttons and books, reproducible posters, bag stuffers, and activity sheets, as well as sample pitch letters, press releases, and social media assets.
