All ABA member stores are invited to sign up now for the Indie Next List e-newsletter program. Powered by Shelf Awareness, the program offers booksellers the opportunity to deliver the monthly Indie Next List and/or the quarterly Kids’ Indie Next List to their customers via a store-branded e-newsletter.

June Indie Next List e-newsletter from Pages BookshopThe June Indie Next List e-newsletter was delivered to 416,000 customers at 106 ABA member stores, and the inaugural Summer Kids’ Indie Next List e-newsletter was sent to 350,000 customers at 102 ABA member stores. A sample of the June e-newsletter can be seen here; see the first Summer Kids’ Indie Next List e-newsletter here.

The adult Indie Next List e-newsletter, which is e-mailed to customers on the first Thursday of every month, features all of the month’s titles with bookseller quotes, “buy now” buttons that lead directly back to the sending store’s e-commerce site, and an interview with the author of the number-one pick.

Each quarterly Kids’ Indie Next List is divided into two e-newsletters that are sent about six weeks apart (June 8 and July 20 for the summer list; September 14 and October 19 for the fall list). Titles featured on each of the season’s two kids’ lists will be based on publication dates. The top 10 titles will be divided into a top five on each list, and each e-newsletter will feature an author Q&A with the number-one pick for that list; additional titles will be organized, as usual, by age group.

To sign up for the adult or children’s Indie Next List e-newsletter program, stores should complete this form on BookWeb. A username and password are required to access the form; booksellers who need login information can e-mail [email protected].

During the sign-up process, booksellers will be required to upload their store logo and a CSV file of their e-mail list (instructions are on the form). Stores will retain ownership of their mailing lists, and customers will not be added to any other lists.

New sign-ups will see a sample of their e-newsletter about a week before it is sent to customers.

Questions about the Indie Next List e-newsletter program should be sent to ABA Senior Program Officer Joy Dallanegra-Sanger.
