Ahead of the 2018 Children’s Institute [5] opening reception and backlist costume party [6], booksellers can participate in one of two engaging, exciting events: a chalkboard lettering workshop or a literary walking tour.

The Chalkboard Lettering Workshop [7] (Tuesday, June 19, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., $30) will help participating booksellers hone their penmanship and lure customers into their bookstore with beautiful chalkboard art. New Orleans-based illustrator and chalk artist Ashlee Arceneaux Jones will lead booksellers in a fun and interactive three-hour workshop in which she will teach the fundamentals of making an eye-catching sign. Interested booksellers should bring their walking shoes for the Literary Walking Tour [9] (Tuesday, June 19, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., $30). Join your colleagues for an exciting literary walking tour of the Big Easy. This three-hour afternoon tour will take booksellers to some of the most famous literary sites New Orleans has to offer.
