ABA Learning on Demand logo [5]Booksellers can visit the American Booksellers Association’s Learning on Demand page on BookWeb.org [6] to find three new podcasts from the fifth ABC Children’s Institute [7], which was held earlier this year in Portland, Oregon.

The podcasts feature some of the most popular sessions from the event, including:

  • Jason Reynolds’ keynote presentation, “Karibu Means Welcome,” during which he shared his journey from reluctant reader to award-winning author.
  • Marley Dias’ featured talk in conversation with Suzanna Hermans of Oblong Books [8], “Inspiring Readers to Enact Change,” about Dias’ #1000blackgirlbooks campaign to collect and distribute to young readers books featuring diverse characters.
  • The education session “Growing Sales With Your Favorite Backlist Titles: What Works, What Doesn’t,” which featured bookseller panelists sharing their knowledge on the importance of backlist, how to choose and display books, which titles continue to sell well, and which children’s categories to invest in to maintain a robust backlist collection for customers.

Earlier this year, ABA launched the Learning on Demand [6] page on BookWeb.org, which, in addition to the new podcasts, features members-only webinar videos on such topics as basic sales techniques, creating a press kit, managing large-scale offsite events, and IndieCommerce and IndieLite.
