Wanted: Weird Things Customers Say in Bookstores [3]

The Overlook Press is calling for submissions from booksellers in the U.S. and Canada for consideration to be included in the North American edition of Jen Campbell’s Weird Things Customers Say in Bookstores (August 30, 2012).

Based on poet and short story writer Jen Campbell’s firsthand experiences working as an independent bookseller in North London’s Ripping Yarns and Scotland’s Edinburgh Bookshop, Weird Things Customers Say in Bookstores collects a miscellany of funny and peculiar conversations overheard between bookstore staff and customers.

The U.K. edition is being released this month by Constable & Robinson. Overlook’s North American edition will include some content from the U.K. as well as new material gathered from booksellers in the U.S. and Canada.

Starting on May 1 and continuing through the end of BookExpo America (June 7, 2012), North American booksellers can submit their most irreverent customer conversations to [email protected] [4] for an opportunity to be included in the fall release. To be eligible for inclusion in Weird Things Customers Say in Bookstores participants must include their first and last names as well as the name of the store in which their conversation took place. Submissions selected for inclusion will be announced in July.
