Responses will help ABA provide more enriching educational and networking opportunities in the future. 

The panel, which was moderated by Lynn Neary of NPR, featured commentary on book retail from ABA CEO Oren Teicher, Penguin Random House U.S. CEO Madeline McIntosh, and other industry leaders.

At a BookExpo education session, NPD Book Executive Director David Walter showed booksellers the latest trends in the U.S. book market, based on data from the industry data analysis company.

The meeting on Thursday, May 30, brought a number of booksellers to the microphone to address a range of issues.

Independent booksellers gathered at the Choice Stage at BookExpo 2019 for the 19th annual Indies Choice Book Awards ceremony.

In between educational sessions, author signings, and networking opportunities designed exclusively for American Booksellers Association members, booksellers roamed the floor to discover new offerings and catch up with colleagues.

As is the case every year, proceeds from the auction benefited the American Booksellers for Free Expression (ABFE) and Every Child a Reader. The event was sponsored by ABA, the Children’s Book Council, and HarperCollins Children’s Books.

Some authors will be autographing exclusively for ABA member booksellers in the ABA Member Lounge and Galley Room.

A variety of children’s book illustrators are donating original art from a published or forthcoming book to be auctioned off to raise money for ABFE and Every Child a Reader.

The annual meeting agenda will include announcing the results of ABA’s election, reports on the association’s activities over the past year, and updates on new and ongoing initiatives.
