Approximately 655 booksellers from 335 stores were in Minneapolis for ABA’s 12th annual Winter Institute, which also featured a record-breaking number of publishers and authors.

On the opening day of Winter Institute, author Roxane Gay urged indie booksellers to ensure that their stores are inclusive places of refuge for all those needing sanctuary.

Friday’s Leadership Workshop for Owners and Managers and the Wi12 Debrief will be presented by Amanda Cebula and Thomas Stanley of the Kansas Leadership Center.

Registration for the 2017 ABC Children’s Institute will open next Wednesday. The event will be held at the Red Lion Hotel on the River – Jantzen Beach in Portland, Oregon, from April 5–7.

Registration for BookExpo 2017 opened last week. The trade show and ABA programming will held at New York’s Javits Convention Center from Wednesday, May 31, through Friday, June 2.
