Since opening in May in a renovated 19th century opera house in Americus, Georgia, Bittersweet Books & Coffee has become a literary haven where community members can find new and used books; browse thousands of comic books; and enjoy gourmet coffee, chocolates, and desserts. 

Carol Hoenig and Peggy Zieran, two former Borders employees with a combined 35 years in the book business, are opening Turn of the Corkscrew, Books & Wine in Rockville Centre, New York, next month.

This August, TJ Rayhill, a 19-year-old college student, will open Dog-Eared Books in Campbellsville, Kentucky. The used bookstore also sells new books online and offers an online college textbook rental service.
