The Center for Fiction is looking for part-time booksellers ($18/hr) to join the team at the Center’s bookstore as we reopen after quarantine. This job will be approximately 20 hours a week, and duties will include: helping customers, organizing and shelving books, assisting the management with inventory tasks (receiving, returns, etc.), and, of course, selling books. Other basic bookstore duties will apply.
The ideal bookseller at the Center for Fiction will have at least 1 year of bookselling experience. The Center isn’t just a bookstore but a large nonprofit with many programs and booksellers are expected to keep up-to-date with our many offerings. They will also be a voracious reader, somebody excited by the best in literary fiction, literature-in-translation, independent presses and classics. Booksellers will be expected to multitask and convey enthusiasm for fiction and other related genres.
