  • Bianca Torre is Afraid of Everything, Justine Pucella Winans
Clarion Books, 9780358721642, April 11, 2023 (Young Adult)

“This book is the weird and wonderful queer-teen-investigates-money-laundering-bird-cult murder mystery I didn’t realize I was waiting for. Simultaneously hilarious and terrifying, sweet and wry."

    - Rebekah Shoaf, Boogie Down Books, Bronx, NY

“With a first sentence pondering the existence of lesbian sheep, Bianca Torre comes out of the gates swinging! If Rear Window were narrated by an incredibly anxious nonbinary lesbian bird-watcher who’s a total weeb, it might come kinda-sorta close to Bianca Torre is Afraid of Everything — but that’s not giving enough credit where credit’s due. Bianca’s sardonic inner monologue is snort-inducing, and as they investigate the murder (maybe?) of their neighbor, I found myself reading sentences out loud to appreciate their hilarious absurdity. This book defies description, beyond the fact that I LOVED it!

    - Tory Hall, Chapters Books & Gifts, Seward, NE

“Fun Rear Window vibes about a fearful teenager who gets caught up with a mysterious murdering cult. Such a unique read incorporating coming to terms with one’s sexuality, navigating a first crush, and trying to avoid being killed.”

    - Earl Dizon, Green Bean Books, Portland, OR
