  • Let Me Explain You: A Novel, Annie Liontas
    Scribner, 9781476789088, July 14, 2015 (Fiction)

Annie Liontas unveils this family layer by layer, exposing the darkest secrets and the most loving ones as well. We often read to experience and disappear into another world, another life, and this afternoon I was a Greek; a daughter who lost a father; a mother; a sister; a lover of good food; and one who loves to read.

Annie Philbrick, Bank Square Books (Mystic, CT)

LET ME EXPLAIN YOU is a treasure of a book, caustic and sweet in equal measures. Telling the story of a Greek father, his ex-wife, and his estranged daughters, it revolves around their world, inspiring awe with its gorgeous writing and realistic dialogue.  The novel truly explores the relationships between men and the women they love (familial and romantic) and how that love can affect all of our judgments, clouding them until we no longer see a real person, but a straw man. LET ME EXPLAIN YOU reminded me very much of EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED in its hilarious situations and poignant story-telling, especially in the fractured English of Stavros Stavros, our nearly heroic protagonist.  It's a beautiful book that many will cherish in the future.

Bill Carl, Booksellers on Fountain Square (Cincinnati, OH)

LET ME EXPLAIN YOU is such an original and  vividly told novel that I could hear the characters' voices and see their faces. Every time I opened the book, they sprang immediately to life, and author Anna Liontas plots this dysfunctional family tale in a way that is fresh and funny.
