The American Booksellers Association has begun work on the next ABACUS report, which will be issued this year and will be based on the input of bookstores' 2008 operating results.

ABACUS is an ABA bookstore members-only survey that compiles and analyzes valuable business information that bookstores have found essential in helping to improve operations and profits. In addition, ABACUS findings are invaluable in helping ABA formulate the association's education curriculum, which is offered free to member booksellers at BookExpo America, the Winter Institute, and other venues.

The conclusion of the tax filing period is a great time to participate in the ABACUS information-gathering process. Watch BTW for updates, as ABA will very soon be launching the secure, confidential ABACUS electronic survey form on BookWeb.org. For most booksellers, completing the easy-to-use ABACUS Survey form will take about an hour. All information provided to the ABACUS study is kept strictly confidential.
