Registration for BookExpo 2017, the annual trade show held in conjunction with American Booksellers Association programming, opened last Thursday, December 8. The annual trade show will be held from Wednesday, May 31, through Friday, June 2, at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.

To receive a free badge to the show, booksellers at ABA member stores will need to provide an ABA member number during the BookExpo registration process. Booksellers who don’t know their ABA member ID number should send a request with their name, title, and store name to [email protected] or call (800) 637-0037, ext. 7536.

Thanks to a significant financial commitment from Reed Exhibitions, ABA member booksellers can reserve rooms at the 2017 Hotel ABA — The Row NYC Hotel — at a rate of $200 per night, including all taxes and fees (that’s approximately $33 per night per room). The ABA member hotel rate is available for the nights of Tuesday, May 30, through Saturday, June 3, 2017; however, the room block is limited and reservations will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The Row NYC Hotel, one of Condé Nast Traveler’s top 35 hotels in New York City, is located at 700 Eighth Avenue. To access Hotel ABA reservation information, booksellers will need a BookWeb username and password.

ABA’s programming at BookExpo will once again include the association’s Town Hall and Annual Membership meetings; the Celebration of Bookselling and Author Awards Lunch, followed by exclusive author autographing in the ABA Member Lounge and Galley Room; the opportunity to “Meet the Editor” at publishers’ offices around the city; and, new in 2017, two Publicists Speed Dating sessions. ABA member-only autographing sessions will once again be offered in the ABA Member Lounge following BookExpo’s Adult and Children’s Author breakfasts.

Additional programming for children’s booksellers includes BookExpo’s Middle Grade and YA Book Buzz programs, the ABA/CBC Speed Dating Lunch With Children’s Authors, and the return of the Silent Auction of children’s book art to benefit American Booksellers for Free Expression (ABFE) and Every Child a Reader. For the first time, the auction will feature the announcement of the Children’s Book Council’s Children’s and Teen Choice Book Award winners.

More on ABA programming at BookExpo can be found on BookWeb.org and watch for updates in future issues of Bookselling This Week.

General questions about registration should be addressed to the BookExpo customer service team at [email protected].
