American Booksellers Association CEO Oren Teicher recently served as a guest speaker for Half Moon Bay Brewing Company's discussion series “Brews and Views.” The March 21 discussion at the brewery in Half Moon Bay, California, titled “The Future of Independent Bookstores and Booksellers,” centered on the vital importance of independent booksellers.

Teicher was in conversation with Lenny Mendonca, owner and founder of Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, as well as chief economic and business advisor for the state of California and director of the state’s Office of Business and Economic Development. Cindi Whittemore of Ink Spell Books in Half Moon Bay originally suggested Teicher as a speaker for the series.

The “Brews and Views” series features speakers on a monthly or bi-monthly basis to tackle everything from environmental issues and economic development to social change and politics. Started by Mendonca, the series serves as both a free public forum and philanthropy, as part of the evening’s proceeds benefit the Cabrillo Education Foundation.
