ABA Education LogoOn Tuesday, July 11, beginning at 2:00 p.m. ET, the American Booksellers Association will host an hour-long educational webinar on managing large-scale off-site events.

Based on a successful education session presented at Winter Institute 12 in Minneapolis, this webinar aims to help booksellers learn how to better manage large-scale off-site events by looking at all aspects of planning.

The webinar will be presented by three ABA member booksellers who regularly produce large-scale off-site events: Jessica Stockton Bagnulo of Greenlight Bookstore in Brooklyn, New York; Robert McDonald of The Book Stall at Chestnut Court in Winnetka, Illinois; and Lynn Riehl of Nicola’s Books in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The webinar will be an hour in length, including 20 minutes for a Q&A. It will also be recorded and uploaded to BookWeb following the event.

The webinar is open to all ABA member booksellers who sign up by 2:00 p.m. ET on July 11, and stores are welcome to register more than one staff member to participate. The webinar will be hosted on GoToWebinar, which will send registered booksellers an e-mail with dial-in details before the event.

ABA will also present a Bookselling 101 webinar, “Basic Sales Techniques to Engage the Customer,” on August 15. In this webinar, three bookselling pros will provide strategies and tips to help book people become salespeople: Gillian Kohli of Wellesley Books in Wellesley, Massachusetts; Daniel Goldin of Boswell Book Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Linda-Marie Barrett of the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance (SIBA) and formerly of Malaprop’s Bookstore/Café in Asheville, North Carolina.
