Booksellers who would like to learn more about the ABACUS Study or who would like help filling out the 2006 survey form, can contact the American Booksellers Association's Director of Special Projects, David Walker, to set up one-on-one appointments for BookExpo America.

Completing the survey via the redesigned and easier-to-use web form takes approximately an hour. In return, booksellers receive valuable data that can help them make their businesses more profitable, a $50 rebate off their next ABA dues renewal, and the satisfaction of knowing that they are helping the independent bookselling community as a whole.

Each ABA member bookstore participating in the study receives a customized report with detailed analysis of their store's financial results; comparisons with other stores based on more than 20 different criteria; an executive summary of the study's key findings; key insights into the drivers of independent bookstore profitability; year-to-year trends data; and opportunities to participate in ancillary studies.

To make it easier for booksellers to submit their 2005 financial data, the ABACUS Web form is now self-calculating.

To set an appointment for BEA, booksellers should contact Walker at [email protected] or (800) 637-0037, ext. 6612. Booksellers who are not attending this year's trade show may also contact Walker at anytime for assistance in filling out the survey form.
