ABA member booksellers interested in attending this year’s ABC Children’s Institute, to be held in Orlando, Florida, from June 21–23, can now submit their names via a form on BookWeb for the chance to win a publisher-sponsored scholarship. Scholarships are open to booksellers from ABA member stores that did not have a Children’s Institute scholarship winner in 2014 or 2015. The deadline to apply for a scholarship is March 31, 2016. Scholarships will cover the conference fee, the cost of airfare or ground transportation up to $400, and two hotel nights plus tax.

Booksellers who dropped off a business card at the American Booksellers Association’s booth at one of the fall regional trade shows also have a chance at winning a scholarship to the Children’s Institute.

Registration for the American Booksellers Association’s fourth ABC Children’s Institute will open at the end of February. The institute will be held at the Wyndham Orlando Resort International, immediately preceding the American Library Association’s Annual Conference. The event, which is once again sponsored by Baker & Taylor, is open to all ABA member booksellers.

In addition to collecting the applicant’s contact information, the scholarship form asks why the bookseller wants to attend the Children’s Institute and whether the applicant would be willing to share a particular skill or expertise at the event.

A submission demonstrates the applicant’s interest in receiving a scholarship but does not guarantee selection. Winners will be announced in April 2016.
