Indies First

Saturday, October 31, is the final day for ABA member stores to get special deals on a wide range of frontlist and backlist titles offered by publishers in support of the third annual celebration of Indies First on Small Business Saturday, November 28.

Special promotional codes and Indies First promotional materials can be found here.

Stores that have already arranged for their local authors and illustrators to serve as guest booksellers on Small Business Saturday should add their event details to the Store Indies First Activity Registry, so that they will appear on the Indies First map on IndieBound.org. (It may take up to 48 hours for the map to reflect new information.)

Booksellers who are still in search of guest authors or illustrators can view the Indies First Author and Illustrator Index to find contact information for possible participants.

Program information and resources for booksellers and authors to use are available here. Booksellers may send all questions about Indies First to [email protected].

Indies Introduce

Stores that have never participated in the Indies Introduce program must complete the sign-up form by Saturday, October 31, to take advantage of publishers’ offers on Winter/Spring 2016 Indies Introduce titles.

The Winter/Spring list, available here, is comprised of 10 adult titles and 10 children’s titles publishing between January and June 2016, which were chosen as the upcoming season’s top debuts by bookseller panelists from across the country. A BookWeb username and password are required to access the list, which is accompanied by bookseller blurbs, full details on publishers’ offers, and special promotional materials.

Stores that have taken in part in past Indies Introduce promotions do not need to sign up to participate.

An archive of Indies Introduce author interviews from Bookselling This Week is also available to help ABA members promote current and past Indies Introduce picks. Also available on BookWeb.org is a list of all Indies Introduce title selections chosen since the program’s inception in 2013.

Booksellers who would like to volunteer to be a reader for next year’s Indies Introduce panel, which commences in January 2016, are invited to contact Senior Program Officer Joy Dallanegra-Sanger.
