Digital audiobook company Libro.fm has selected Ann Patchett, author and owner of Parnassus Books in Nashville, Tennessee, as the winner of its inaugural “Bookstore Champion” award, which will recognize individuals “who actively advocate for local bookstores through their platforms, influence, and contributions to the greater indie book community.”
In addition to honoring Patchett with this new award, Libro.fm is celebrating the release of her forthcoming audiobook, The Dutch House, read by Tom Hanks (HarperAudio), publishing September 24 and now available to pre-order on Libro.fm. Patchett also created a video message for Libro.fm about her love for audiobooks in independent bookstores, and Libro.fm has put together a library of visual quotes from bestselling authors on why bookstores and booksellers matter.
Booksellers who would like to nominate the next Bookstore Champion can send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition, Libro.fm also recently shared a blog post recapping the results of its 2019 Summer Listening Challenge. According to the company, hundreds of stores and customers participated in the challenge, in which, beyond listening to audiobooks, customers were encouraged to visit their local bookstores.
