Each month, the Indie Next List Notables feature engrossing and provocative writing -- fiction and nonfiction titles enthusiastically recommended by indie booksellers nationwide. POP materials for in-store displays -- electronic files in PDF format of both the April Indie Next List Notables flier and shelf-talkers -- are now available on BookWeb.org.

The April Notables list includes a new collection of stories from acclaimed writer Mary Gaitskill (Don't Cry, Pantheon), as well as an acclaimed debut novel from Elizabeth Kelly (Apologize, Apologize!, Twelve). In addition, there are novels from the independent houses Permanent Press (The History of Now by Daniel Klein) and Archipelago (The Twin by Gerbrand Bakker; David Colmer, translator).

This month's nonfiction includes titles focusing on food (A Homemade Life, Simon & Schuster), religion (Losing My Religion, Collins; A People's History of Christianity, HarperOne), and a new look at fun (Play, Avery). And for mystery/suspense readers there are five great new titles, including a new book from Tom Cain (No Survivors, Viking).

Booksellers with comments, questions, and suggestions for the Next List are encouraged to contact Dan Cullen, editor-in-chief of the Indie Next List, via e-mail.

Stores that need more copies of the Indie Next List fliers should e-mail ABA's Linda Ford.
