BookExpo America has announced that the 2006 trade show will be held May 19 - 21 in Washington, D.C., the weekend before Memorial Day and after Mother's Day.

"We've been hearing for years the industry's interest in returning to the nation's capital," said Tina Jordan, public relations director/special events director for BookExpo America. "BEA's City Survey confirmed it, and the newly expanded convention center can accommodate us. [Washington, D.C.] is a strong book market and a great destination town. There are numerous flight options and reasonably priced hotels. And, there's a deep nostalgia with the book community in Washington."

In 2004, BEA will be held June 4 - 6 in Chicago; in 2005, the convention will be held in New York City from June 3 - 5.
