Book Sense and The History Channel Hit the Road Next Week

During the week of July 14 -18, The History Channel is traveling the highways and byways of America during Hit the Road Week, and, to complement the series, stores with Book Sense will be featuring bookmarks for Fodor's The Thirteen Colonies and Fodor's Old West in their History Channel/Hardcover History in-store displays. The bookmarks were sent to participating stores in the June white box mailing.

Programs to be aired during Hit the Road Week will take a look at people who have made their fortunes providing eat-and-run food services on our nation's highways and Americans' fascination with homes on wheels, and a four-part miniseries on US 1 will focus on the people who created the highway, the engineering and construction obstacles that had to be overcome, the many historic events occurring along its trail, and the places and people that the road passes by. Hit the Road Week is hosted by Jerry Stiller and Patton Oswalt from the CBS series The King of Queens.

Each month participating stores in the History Channel/Hardcover History promotion are sent new bookmarks -- featuring new titles and TV events -- to refill the pocket of their display easel. In August, the promotion will feature Gene Kranz's Failure Is Not an Option (Berkley) in conjunction with a History Channel program about the early days of the space program.

Booksellers with questions and stores with Book Sense that are not currently participating in the promotion, but would like to receive an easel, should send an e-mail to [email protected].
