Due to the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays, this is the final issue of Bookselling This Week for 2020. BTW will return to its regular Wednesday schedule on January 6, 2021. In addition, the twice-weekly updates from ABA CEO Allison Hill will resume on Monday, January 4.

During the busy holiday season, booksellers are strongly encouraged to continue reporting to the Indie Bestseller Lists.

For the week including Christmas Day:

  • The reporting site on BookWeb will be open for stores reporting by file upload or manual entry from 3:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, December 26, until 3:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday, December 29.
  • BookScan reporters: Please transmit reports to BookScan from your POS before 1:00 p.m. ET on Monday, December 28.
  • The Indie Bestseller List will be produced and emailed to stores on Tuesday, December 29.

For New Year’s week:

  • The reporting site on BookWeb will be open for stores reporting by file upload or manual entry from 3:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, January 2, until 3:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday, January 5.
  • BookScan reporters: Please transmit reports to BookScan from your POS before 1:00 p.m. ET on Monday, January 4.
  • The Indie Bestseller List will be produced and emailed to stores on Tuesday, January 5.

The American Booksellers Association urges all stores to continue to report to the Indie Bestseller Lists over the holidays to demonstrate the power of independents. The aggregated Bestseller reports provide hard data that reinforces to publishers and other industry stakeholders the key role of independent bookstores to a healthy book industry.

The 2020 Indie Bestseller Lists, featuring the year’s top-selling titles at hundreds of independent bookstores nationwide, are now available in PDF, Doc, and HTML formats. Each list is a great resource for shoppers looking for post-holiday reads.

From all of us at ABA and BTW, best wishes for a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2021!
